5 Bizarre TV Remotes
Are these television remotes practical? No. But are they bizarre and kinda of neat ideas? Yes!
A normal television remote consist of the numbers 1 through 9. But with this remote (designed by Russia’s Art Lebedev Studios) the exact opposite is trying to be made. With buttons numbered 1-99, the idea basically is to never press more than one button, to get to your desired TV channel. Although today you have satellite TV where the channels go up to 700 and beyond. It’s really a concept idea, but the 20 inch long remote really does make you say: “WTF”

The Origami TV Remote Control delivers just the basics for those who don’t mix well with instruction or manuals. This two-handed controller brings back fond memories of a paper-related game we all played in grade school, and is apparently used to dictate “only the essential functions” of a TV set such as channel selection and volume control. I’m going to call this one a pretty neat idea, but still not a remote I’d use day-to-day.

As you move the metal sections within the water the conduction of electricity through it changes; that’s mapped into functions such as increasing or decreasing volume. The whole thing is part of a project of Philippe’s called “Order & Chaos”

There isn’t too much information on this remote but cool nevertheless. I’m going to take a wild guess and say that you have to push on the certain light which you want it’s task to perform. Such as play and stop.
Gizmodo sums it up pretty well:
The Dynatron Miracle Remote is a rare breed of remote control. Promising to end the horror of replacement remotes that usually includes programming and endless codes, all you have to do is throw in some batteries and the Miracle Remote will work just like your original. Each one is designed to work with a specific TV brand (there are 8 different models), and should let you access every function, like changing the picture size or accessing your DVD or game inputs.
While in the process of creating this post, I came across this ad for the first TV remotes. The time was somewhere in the 1950′s.

THAT RAINBOW REMOTE IS THE COOLEST THING EVER.
WHERE DID YOU GET IT? (:
I love that 100-button remote. It’s hilarious, because there are so many more channels than that, but they obviously tried really hard to get every one. It’s such a funny failure. And the thing’s two feet long, too? They add in some very marginal convenience as well as some massive inconvenience.
Imagine them running a line of those off in a factory… the foreman pulling the first one hot off the line and running it up to the second floor for all the factory workers to see down below. “From this day forward, no man will have to press two buttons to get to the channel they want to watch, assuming the channel is between one and a hundred!”
Too funny.
